Shopping and leisure at nature’s doorstep

Booragoon is probably most known for being home to Westfield Booragoon, a major shopping centre featuring well known department stores, services such as a library and regional bus station, and features a cinema. The shopping centre also adjoins the City of Melville Civic Centre. The centre was built in 1972 and formerly called Garden City, with the name reflecting the many gardens and jacaranda-lined streets of the time. The centre has been approved for major renovations totalling $792million.

There’s a large number of family-friendly parks and reserves, including Booragoon Lake, a freshwater lake making up part of the wetland of Beeliar Regional Park. Dogs are welcome, there’s a playground for the kids and a handy viewing platform to spot some aquatic animals. Karoonda Reserve is the preferred option for many dog walkers, plus it features a playground and it’s home to Booragoon Junior Football Club. You can find more playgrounds at Ratcliff Park and Layman Park. Another highlight of the area is Wireless Hill, a great spot for a picnic with playgrounds, exceptional views of the city and plenty of history being home to the Wireless Hill Museum.
